About Tadoba Tiger Reserve

Tadoba is one of the most best and biggest tiger reserve in the world, it also has one of the most highest tiger population in India with a staggering 115 tigers. The park is closed from July to mid October. There are a few time slots for safari in the park they are as follows :

October 1st to November 30th: Morning: 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM; Afternoon: 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM

  • December 1st to February 28th: Morning: 6:30 AM to 11:00 AM; Afternoon: 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM

  • March 1st to April 30th: Morning: 5:30 AM to 10:00 AM; Afternoon: 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM

  • May 1st to June 30th: Morning: 5:00 AM to 9:30 AM; Afternoon: 3:30 PM to 7:00 PM .

    There are 2 zones in the safari Core and buffer zone. The safari price for core zone is R.7000-R.8000 and buffer zone is R.5000-R.6000. If you want to see young and many tigers go to the core zone and if you want to see legendary tigers like the king of tadoba Chota Matka, Jharni, Babli etc. go to the buffer zone.

Flora

The major tree species are: Teak, Ain, Bamboo, Bija, Dhaoda, Haldu, Salai, Semal and Tendu. Along the moist areas, species like Mango, Jamun and Arjun are found. Bamboo (Dendrocalamus strictus) is spread over 40% of the habitat. There are 667 species of flowering plants.

Fauna

The notable faunal species include: tiger, leopard, sloth bear, wild dog, gaur, chital and sambar. As many as, 280 species of birds are found, apart from reptiles (54 species), amphibians (11 species) and fishes (84 species)..

Gir National Park

Gir national park is located in South Gujarat. It is the only place in India where lions can roam freely. The park has a staggering 674 lions. It is closed in June, July, August and September. Safaris in Gir will cost 5100 per gypsy which includes tax, guide etc. and 800 per person. The safari has timings and they are as follows :Winter (Mid-October to February):

  • Morning: 6:45 AM to 9:45 AM

  • Evening: 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM

  • Summer (March to June):

    • Morning: 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM

    • Evening: 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM

      The park also has a variety of flora and fauna which includes

      Flora

      Gir National Park’s flora includes a variety of plant species, such as Jambu, Karanj, Umro, Vad, Kalam, Charal, Sirus, and Amli.The region benefits from the cool shade and moisture content these broad-leaved trees provide. Prosopis and Casuarina have been planted along Gir’s coastal borders as part of the afforestation plan.


      Fauna

      The Asiatic lion, nature’s most majestic big cat, is a one-of-a-kind gift. It is a highly intelligent animal with exceptional social habits and hunting abilities. Gir has been home to over 425 different species of birds. Aquila clanga, Greater Spotted Eagle, Dalmatian Pelican Pelecanus Crispus, Indian Skimmer Rynchops Albicollis, Oriental White-backed Vulture Gyps bengalensis, and Long-Billed Vulture Gyps Indicus are all globally threatened species. Gir’s wetlands support a variety of waterfowl species, particularly at Kamaleshwar Dam. Gir is home to six of India’s nine vulture species. Two Gyps species, White-rumped Vulture and Eurasian Griffon, are now extremely rare. Birds Tawny eagle, Bonelli’s eagle, Crested serpent eagle, King vulture, Crested hawk eagle, Painted storks, Pelicans, Peafowl, etc.The Gir National Park is home to several avifauna species, including the brown fish owl, Indian eagle owl, pygmy woodpecker, vultures, and crested serpent. The Gir Forest, near the town of Sasan Gir, is also home to a diverse range of wildlife, including langur monkeys, jackals, leopards, antelope, deer, and crocodiles.
